Treatment of Acne Scars
There are different methods of treatment for acne scars.. Among these methods; fractional carbon dioxide laser treatment, fractional gold needle application, ICON laser treatment, Q-Switch laser treatment, chemical peeling and plasma energy systems. The severity, type and prevalence of acne scars will also determine which type of treatment will be applied and how many sessions will be required. The most preferred methods in the treatment of acne scars are Fractional Carbon Dioxide Laser Treatment, Fractional Gold Needle Application, ICON Laser Therapy and Q-Switch Laser Therapy
Fractional CO2 Laser Therapy
Fractional Carbondioxide (CO2) Laser Treatment,a laser peeling method, is a treatment method that aims to obtain a new skin support tissue by means of microtermal damage zones reaching to a depth of 600 micrometers. With the application of CO2 laser, the superior collagen stimulating effect of the laser on the acne scars can be quickly achieved. After 20 to 60 minutes of treatment, redness and swelling of the skin may occur, but within 1 or 2 days these symptoms will disappear. It is necessary to avoid exposure to the sunlight before and 1 month after the treatment.
After 3-6 days, the skin is peeled. The first effect is a smoother, smoother appearance on the skin. Applications with fractional laser affect only 20% of the treatment area, so it may be necessary to repeat this treatment for 3-4 sessions.
Fractional Gold Needle Application
Fractional Gold Needle Application, which is a very much preferred method in the treatment of acne scars, is the name given to the special head with needle-shaped electrodes designed to deliver radiofrequency energy only from the needle tip. Thanks to this head of the instrument , the skin surface and other areas are protected from the effects of radiofrequency energy while energizing the desired depth within the skin.
Before application, the area to be treated is cleaned and anesthetic cream is applied. Treatment is performed by adjusting the required depth and energy levels to the cleaned skin. After the procedure, the skin is cleaned, soothing, epithelizing products are applied and the skin is cooled.
Fractional Gold Needle treatment is an application that can cause redness and swellings in the skin, but any skin peeling is not observed. The patient may return to his/her life a day later. There is no risk of staining. It is an advantageous application because it can be done in summer. It may be necessary to repeat 3-4 sessions of treatment to obtain the desired result from the application.
Treatment of Acne Scars with ICON Laser
Thanks to laser light, on skin dimples caused by acne scars a new collagen structure is formed by increasing heat. In the ICON laser application, there is no need for a needle and there is no peeling, burning effect, so scars disappear without effecting patient’s daily life. According to the severity of the problem, 1 to 4 sessions per month is sufficient to achieve significant improvements.
Q-Switch Laser Treatment of Acne Spots
Acne problem can cause some brown spots especially in dark-skinned people. In this case, we prefer Q-SW lasers to remove these skin spots.. In most cases, brown spots can be removed in 1-2 sessions. This laser technique which does not have any side effects except temporary redness is an important method in removing acne spots without affecting daily life.

When Do Results of Acne Scar Treatment Become Manifest?
After the scars are formed, they become stable after at least 2 years. This process can be further reduced with treatment. Your body produces collagen for wound healing. Before treatment, you should see the final condition of the wound. Initially, the appearance of a dark reddish color in scars is obtained due to the growth of new blood vessels. As blood production slows down in the future, the wound will begin to flatten. Improvement in acne scar treatment may be seen after 3-4 treatment sessions.
